HAPPY NEW YEAR & CAN I ASK YOU A FAVOUR?

So first of all HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone; I apologise I haven't already wished you this but I have been in no fit state since celebrating NYE festivities! I hope you all had a marvellous time however you celebrated NYE.

I'm now going to be a little bit cheeky and ask (no beg) you to complete a survey for me; it's for my uni course and would help me out A LOT! Here is the link...here. Thankyou!

The One Where I Go To University.

So this coming Friday I am flying the nest to start University. I am scared. I am nervous. I am anxious. I am excited. I am a real home bird so leaving home is going to be tough but I know it will be worth it. I took a year out of education after my A Levels and have been working around 30 hours per week behind a bar and waitressing, this job has helped me so much with my confidence and just general life skills but I couldn't do this job permanently (people are rude sometimes!). I will be studying Fashion Communication & Promotion at Nottingham Trent, I am truly excited about starting this course but going back into education is gonna be a bit strange. The course itself though sounds so cool though and I think it will be the stepping stones to my future career.

As I said I am a home bird, I have never lived away from home for an extended period of time and moving out scares the shit out of me but I know if I don't do it that I will be stuck in some dead end job with little to none life experiences and socialising with people that I can't really relate to. So I figured I'd take a leap since University definitely feels like the right path for me. At the moment I live in a place where everyone knows everybody and everything they do so moving to a city is exciting*.  I can't wait to live somewhere with things going on around me that I can get involved in.

How sweet is the care package my auntie made for me; mini bottles of wine...yes please!

In all honesty Nottingham isn't that far away from my family home but I would still be terrified if I was just moving down the road because I would still be living alone. I know I will cry when I'm saying my goodbyes and I know I will probably feel a bit deflated at first but once I get into the swing of things it will all be worth it. There will be a lot going on in the first few weeks which should hopefully prevent the homesickness from sinking in and if it doesn't well....there is Facetime!

In this day and age studying at university is expensive and obviously becoming independent is gonna add up, I would say I am quite money smart, I have quite a bit saved up and I am a savvy spender but my student loan doesn't even cover my accommodation costs so I will have to get even smarter with my pennies (maybe expect less hauls and more wishlists then!). So yeah, unfortunately my materialistic tendencies will have to fall by the wayside slightly because I'm gonna have to pay for my food (actually excited at getting to do a proper food shop for myself!) plus I've gotta fund nights out and whatnot, but then I guess money problems is all part of becoming a student!

So are any of you heading off to University soon and if so are you as excited/nervous as I feel? If you're already at uni or have been then.... any advice?  By the way I promise not to neglect blogging but I might get a bit behind during the next few weeks because I expect things are gonna get pretty busy!

*Sorry for overusing this word a tad!

IT'S FRIDAY. I'M IN LOVE #9

So this is my ninth IF.IIL! It's just a list of everything I've been loving to pieces this past week so 'ere we go my lovelies...

THIS NECKLACE...
Again this featured in my last haul but I couldn't resist including it here too because I just can't take it off've my neck! It feels so delicate and luxurious but the spike detailing adds a little bit of edge which I just find so beautiful.

THIS CONCOCTION...

I created this delight after a hard day at work the other evening. All you need is some ice-cream, toffee sauce, a cookie and marshmallows. Take your cookie crumble it over your ice-cream, throw on some toffee sauce and embellish with baby marshmallows et voila - happiness in a bowl.

WHIP IT
This is a coming-of-age film about an all girls roller-derbying team in Austin, Texas starring Ellen Page and directed by Drew Barrymore. I watched it the other day and just loved every second of it and I can't believe I hadn't seen it till this week! Ellen Page is basically this 17 year old girl living in a dead-end town and forced into pagents by her mother when all she wants to do is roller-derby in this bad-ass all girls team (even though she doesn't meet the age requirements). It's slightly predictable but if you enjoy films like Juno, Perks of Being a Wallflower and Nick & Nora's Infinite Playlist then definitely give this a watch!

THIS RING!
I love dinosaur jewellery so as you can imagine I was joyous when I found this ring in H&M! There's not that much more to say apart from...
              . .
                                / `. .' \
                        .---. < > < > .---.

                         ~-..-~ ~-..-~

           .-~~^-. \__/ \__/

                        |     /        |     /     ~-.     `-. _||_||_
                        |_____| |_____| ~ - . _ _ _ _ _>

THIS BAG...

So you might of seen this Primark purchase in my recent haul, it looks like a highlighter but it's so cool. Every comment I've received since wearing this has been something along the lines of 'ooh you can see you coming', yup - it's that neon but I like it and it instantly brightens a simple outfit up.

STRAWBERRY & LIME KOPPERBERG...

Oh yes, heaven in a bottle. I like my fruit ciders in the summertime and this is my favourite after Rekorderlig Strawberry and Lime. It's so very refreshing and it has been my drink of choice as of late.

THIS SONG
Why'd You Only Call Me When Your High - Arctic Monkeys. Alex Turner's voice is just sublime on this track and hearing it just gets me all the more excited for the new album (pre-ordered already), it feels mellower than Do I Wanna Know but it's still just as 'after-midnight sexy'. Give it a listen.

SO WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN LOVING THIS WEEK?

As always I hope you are well and if you haven't already then please remember to follow me on bloglovin here!

LIEBSTER AWARD

So I was nominated for the Liebster Award by two very gorgeous bloggers, Ashlie from Ashlie Small & her wardrobe adventures and Lauren from hi my name is floz, thankyou very much ladies! The Liebster Award is basically a big old tag designed for us bloggers to discover new blogs and bloggers with under 200 followers.

The rules are as follows:

  • You must link back to the person who nominated you.
  • You must answer the 11 Liebster questions given to you by the nominee before you
  • You must pick 11 bloggers to be nominated for the award with under 200 followers
  • You must come up with 11 questions for your nominees to answer
  • You must go to their blogs and notify your nominees!

  • So since I was nominated by two people I have answered two sets of questions (ooh more content, lucky you!)

    First up Lauren's questions:

    1. Favorite nail polish brand?
Barry M. It has been since I first discovered nail polish in my early teen years!

    2. High end or high street?
High street, because there is so much choice wherever you lie on the fashion spectrum

    3.Best clothes shop?
My heart belongs to Topshop and I think it always will; even when I’m an old lady I will still be shopping there!

    4. Lipstick or blush?
Lipstick! Lipstick is instant confidence in a tube and it just completes any outfit.

    5. If you could, what one thing would you change about yourself?
Physically I would like to be curvier, but overall it would be my confidence. I would love to be able to walk into someplace new and not feel so awkward and paranoid.

    6. Biggest achievement?
I’d have to say passing my A Levels and getting accepted onto my chosen course at university (Fashion Promotion & Communication).

    7. Florals or leather?
Both. Nothing quite like rocking the girly florals with some bad boy leather.

    8. Last compliment you were given?
    ‘that dress really suits you’

    9. Long hair or healthy hair?
I think healthy hair is the best option ‘cause let’s face it long straggly damaged hair down to your bum isn't too attractive.

    10. What makes you most happy?
Okay imma list this: finding a song that sums up my life in lyrics, drinking tea, beaches, bonfires, candlelight, cookery books, old photographs, live music, shopping, reading, pretty words, mini skirts and cardigans, vinyl records, living in my own little world, making people laugh, daisy chains, biro tattoos, cheese and onion crisps, walking barefoot, brick walls and faded graffiti, cider and black, being kissed, creating outfits, the smell of smoke, popping candy, autumn, sunshine.

    11. Favorite music artist?
ARCTIC MONKEYS! I have loved Mr Turner and co. since I was eleven. They just have that distinct sound combined with poetic lyrics that I just find irresistible.

    Now for Ashlie's questions:

    1.What first inspired your blog?
I wanted a place to store all my outfits so I can look back at them in years to come. Plus I've always loved writing and being able to voice my opinions so I figured start a blog.

2.Tell us about your most prized possessions?
My iPod! Music is so important to me, it understands me when no one else does.  All of my clothes! My camera. An amber ring my mum gave me, my two childhood teddy bears (well one is a rabbit) Original Bourbin and Bourbin and my cactus.

3.What's your favourite nail polish, ever?
Oh erm I think I will have to say Barry M Prickly Pear, just because it is such a pretty shade of lilac and my nails always feel clean and healthy when I wear it.

4.If you could walk in anyone's shoes for a day, who would it be?
Ooh let me just think.  Okay so this might be cheating because they don’t wear shoes but I’m gonna say my dog Ruby. Just because I’ve always wanted to know what she’s thinking and that way I’d be able to find out!

    5. Would you say you follow trends, or make up your own?
I wouldn't say I necessarily follow trends but if I do like something from a trend then I will make it my own.

    6. What's your favourite high-st (or web-based) fashion or beauty brand?
At the moment it is probably ASOS, I might have become a little bit too addicted!

    7. What's your most enjoyed thing about blogging?
I love all the inspiration I get from fellow bloggers plus I love communicating with bloggers

    8. Jeans or dresses?
Dresses! I find that I suit dresses a lot more than jeans and that I can style them better plus I feel more feminine in a dress.

    9. Tell us a random fact about yourself?
If I could have one superpower it would be the ability to pause time;  just imagine being able to pause so you can have an extra snooze without running late or being able to pause to sneak away from awkward situations!

    10. Long or short nails?
Short because my nails just snap if I grow with them plus I can't stand the sound of long nails scratching on things.

    11. The beauty product you cannot live without?
Without a doubt foundation, I can’t step out of my house without it!

I am tagging all of these lovely ladies:
    Rachel from beautypea
    Becky from honeythumb
    Clare from Indigo Girl
    Liese from Cats & Dresses
    Laura from Laura loves that
    Julie from MADAME GRUNGE

    NOW FOR MY QUESTIONS:

    1. What is your favourite print to wear?
    2. What does your name mean?
    3. What is your favourite song of all time?
    4. Tell me a quote from your favourite film or book
    5. What is your favourite season?
    6. If you could have one superpower what would it be?
    7. What colour nail varnish do you have on right now?
    8. Shirts or skirts?
    9. Would you prefer to travel forwards or backwards in time?
    10. You can invite four people to a dinner party (alive or dead) who would they be?
    11. Show us a picture of your favourite outfit, make-up or wardrobe item (or all 3 if you want!)

I really enjoyed creating this post because it's quite entertaining to answer questions that I don't often get asked in everyday life! I can't wait to read everyone's answers and I hope you are all well.

    love amy xx

Imitation Céline Boston Tote Bag & WISHLIST

    So I got paid today and I cannot wait to have a bit of a shopping haul next week during my day off, but until then I shall have to make do with some pretty pictures of some pretty items;

Since I don't think I will ever be able to afford the Céline tote bag I had to eBay it and did a little victory dance in my mind when I found a perfect imitation of it for a fragment of the price. Here's the link to the bag if you're interested; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150923031803?var=450129138902&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 I think I will be doing a review on the bag when it arrives at my door, so stay tuned!
