The One Where I Go To University.

So this coming Friday I am flying the nest to start University. I am scared. I am nervous. I am anxious. I am excited. I am a real home bird so leaving home is going to be tough but I know it will be worth it. I took a year out of education after my A Levels and have been working around 30 hours per week behind a bar and waitressing, this job has helped me so much with my confidence and just general life skills but I couldn't do this job permanently (people are rude sometimes!). I will be studying Fashion Communication & Promotion at Nottingham Trent, I am truly excited about starting this course but going back into education is gonna be a bit strange. The course itself though sounds so cool though and I think it will be the stepping stones to my future career.

As I said I am a home bird, I have never lived away from home for an extended period of time and moving out scares the shit out of me but I know if I don't do it that I will be stuck in some dead end job with little to none life experiences and socialising with people that I can't really relate to. So I figured I'd take a leap since University definitely feels like the right path for me. At the moment I live in a place where everyone knows everybody and everything they do so moving to a city is exciting*.  I can't wait to live somewhere with things going on around me that I can get involved in.

How sweet is the care package my auntie made for me; mini bottles of wine...yes please!

In all honesty Nottingham isn't that far away from my family home but I would still be terrified if I was just moving down the road because I would still be living alone. I know I will cry when I'm saying my goodbyes and I know I will probably feel a bit deflated at first but once I get into the swing of things it will all be worth it. There will be a lot going on in the first few weeks which should hopefully prevent the homesickness from sinking in and if it doesn't well....there is Facetime!

In this day and age studying at university is expensive and obviously becoming independent is gonna add up, I would say I am quite money smart, I have quite a bit saved up and I am a savvy spender but my student loan doesn't even cover my accommodation costs so I will have to get even smarter with my pennies (maybe expect less hauls and more wishlists then!). So yeah, unfortunately my materialistic tendencies will have to fall by the wayside slightly because I'm gonna have to pay for my food (actually excited at getting to do a proper food shop for myself!) plus I've gotta fund nights out and whatnot, but then I guess money problems is all part of becoming a student!

So are any of you heading off to University soon and if so are you as excited/nervous as I feel? If you're already at uni or have been then.... any advice?  By the way I promise not to neglect blogging but I might get a bit behind during the next few weeks because I expect things are gonna get pretty busy!

*Sorry for overusing this word a tad!

OOTD: been wondering if your heart's still open.

So last Friday it got cold and it rained and the weather was just an all round misery guts (didn't stop a shopping trip though!) so I had to dress for the cold; something I'm not used to after having such a pleasant few months of warmth. I like A/W fashion though, I like cosy knits and tights and boots so it was quite enjoyable styling an outfit suitable for such a climate...

DRESS - Rare (via Topshop)

More or less monochrome with just a hint of raspberry hue.

CARDIGAN - Topshop (via eBay)

Ahh my cosy, cosy cardi.

BRACELETS- Matalan / WATCH - eBay

BAG - Miss Selfridge (sale)

RINGS (left-right) - vintage, Topshop midi rings, Miss Selfridge / NAILS - Queen & Country - 'Mood Swing'

SOCKS - Primark / BOOTS - River Island

Yes it's those boots again.

 CHOKER - Matalan / LIPS - L'Oreal 'Plum Passion'

TIGHTS - Primark ('handbag tights')

As always I hope you are all very well and please remember to follow me on bloglovin here if you want to stay up to date with all my posts. The lyrics in the title are from the song Do I Wanna Know by Arctic Monkeys.

PAYDAY HAUL PART II - (River Island, Boots, Topshop, Missguided etc.)

So I might've been naughty and spent some more pennies on more lovely things but heyho you can't take it with you can you!? Anyway let's commence with the haul and all...

RIVER ISLAND

Ahh I am in love with these patent cut-out boots. They are so chunky and clunky (kinda remind me of some shoes in the movie Clueless) and they were so damn hard to get my hands on. Originally they'd sold out online so I checked in all my local RI stores to no avail...so when I saw they were back online I snapped them up instantly. They do have this style in a matte black too if shiny shiny ain't your thing. I think they are pretty good Coltrane dupes and for a fraction of the price - bonus!

SO IN FASHION

You might of seen this dress featured in my latest OOTD here. It is a loose skater-style fit tartan mini-dress and I think it might just be one of my favourite things I own. It's quite a lightweight jersey material but really good quality. They have this dress in a blue tartan too.

ASOS

So PU and look-alike leather is all in for this A/W so I thought I'd pick myself up something now plus at the time ASOS were having a 20% new season flash sale. I know it looks quite a simple piece but I thought this will just be so versatile to put under sheer shirts or layer over t-shirts or even to wear with something highwaisted. I've got so many outfit ideas for this which I'm pretty excited about.

BOOTS

I only popped into Boots quickly just to pick up this white polish which I've been meaning to grab for a while now and Boots had a buy one get one half price offer on Barry M so I picked up this really pretty pastel blue up too.

MISS SELFRIDGE

DUNGAREE SHORTS - £20 (sale)

I bought this a while ago offline but I kept forgetting to include it in hauls but I've finally remembered. I bought this because I just fell in love with the embroidery detail, thing is this was only available as a petite exclusive which means I had to do quite a bit of alteration to get it to fit (y'know because petite sizing is usually for females 5"4 and under whereas I'm almost 5"7 - clever Amy.) I think this will be more of an A/W piece styled with tights because they are very short on me!

H&M

RING - £2.99

Now I just love dinosaur jewellery so when I saw this little ring in H&M well...it just had to be mine!

PRIMARK

HEELS - £14

So after buying Primark's strappy heeled sandals I fell in love with this sort of style of shoe and my lovely Granny kindly purchased these for me because she thought they were so very divine too! I love the monochrome (although the white could be risky on nights out!) and I adore the thick strap, I just think they look so not Primark-y...in fact I saw a similar pair in River Island for £70!

TOPSHOP

I am a little bit obsessed with midi rings I just find they look so dainty and delicate so I nipped into Topshop to get a couple because I saw they had such lovely designs on their website. I think they had both styles in both gold and silver.

MISSGUIDED

DRESS - £9.94 (inc. p&p)

Missguided have some really cool stuff in at the moment and I am so super excited for new season launches. I picked this simple black cut out detail skater dress in their sale just because I thought it will come in very handy over the next few months as a LBD, and it was such a bargain!

Okay so I think that's it fashion shopping-wise this month (well maybe) as all the shopping I'll now be doing will be in preparing for Uni in a few weeks (well that swung by quick!). I'm thinking of doing a University preparation post soon actually so stick around if you're interested in such things!

As always I hope you are all very well and if you haven't already then please remember to follow me on bloglovin here!
